Hamden’s Partnership for Young Children is a collaborative of professionals, parents and grandparents working together to support the development of young children. The focus of HPYC is to improve the education, care, health, and safety of children from birth to age nine. We collaborate with a wide range of programs, departments, schools, and resources that support young children and their families. We examine what is working well, what needs to be improved and how to make it happen.
HPYC manages the School Readiness grant which provides funding to eligible families with children 3-4 years of age for preschool. The Partnership applies to and manages various grants which assist financially in our efforts to support families and young children. In conjunction with grants, we are funded by a variety of sources including the Town of Hamden, The Hamden Public Schools, and the Office of Early Childhood. We are an independent collaborative with United Way of Greater New Haven serving as our fiduciary. In addition to Town and State resources, we have several community partners.
